Advent 2018 Sermon Series

Advent & Love: What Are We Waiting For?

The passage for this week is 2 Samuel 7:1-11,16.

Israel stops thinking in terms of, “If I do this God will do this”, and instead thinks in terms of nevertheless God will do this.”

God’s coming reveals of those around Him.

This text reminds us that it does not matter what we come to God with, but what matters is what we receive from God.

Here is the bulletin for this week.

Advent & Joy: What Are We Waiting For?

The Scripture for this week is Isaiah 61:1-11.

God has redeemed us so that we can offer the world to God and offer God back to the world.

Remember that God loves justice.

Recognize how much we do not always like the reframing that Jesus is doing.

Realize that God is a God who proclaims redemption on the world, and we get to participate in what God is doing in the world.

Here is the bulletin for this week.

Advent & Peace: What Are We Waiting For?

The passage for this week is Isaiah 40:1-11.

What is the problem?

Sin is the problem, both ours and others.

What is the solution?

God is the solution; God wants to comfort and redeem us.

What should we do about it?

We need to have faith in Christ’s changing power. We need to allow God to work in our lives and change the lives of those around us.

Here is the bulletin for this week.
