Shane A. Smith
Lead Pastor

Mount Carmel is excited to welcome Pastor Shane Smith as our Lead Pastor. Read more about Pastor Smith’s heart below.

He is a passionate leader with a vision of designing an environment where it is easy for people to encounter God, experience life-change, and embrace culture. He is a Rochester, N.Y. native with over 27 years of ministry experience.

After three years of leading a Saturday evening ministry called “Axiom” he followed God’s call to the town of Gates, N.Y. where a strip mall vacancy between a liquor store and tattoo shop presented magnificent opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and grow a church family. As the church outgrew the space, an opportunity presented itself to purchase a seven-acre campus in Chili, N.Y. and Pastor Shane served as church planter and lead pastor for 9 1/2 years.

Shane confesses that apart from Christ we can do nothing! Shane and his wife Kelly have been married since 1992 and have two adult children, Allison and Keegan. Shane and Kelly relocated one year ago to Point Loma where Kelly serves as VP of Institutional Advancement for PLNU. Together they are committed to Christ and building the Kingdom of God with the people of Mount Carmel. If you want to reach Pastor Shane, you can email him or call him at (585) 802-1865.
